Even after police forewarned the motoring public with several signs that warned police are ahead and drivers should stay off their phones, it appears not everyone was reading the signs!

The two-hour operation, was held between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. North Vancouver RCMP ticketed a total of 89 drivers, 74 for driving while distracted, the remainder for various motor vehicle offences.

“The use of personal electronic devices while driving has been banned in B.C. since Jan. 1, 2010,” said Cpl. Richard De Jong. “It is evident there is still more education and enforcement needed to make our roads safer!”

The participating police agencies included North Vancouver RCMP, West Vancouver Police and the LMD Integrated Road Safety Unit targeting the two intersections of Marine Drive and Capilano Rd. along with Marine Drive and Taylor Way.
