Young Telemark skiers end season at midget finals in Revelstoke

Local cross-country ski racers were on fire in Revelstoke last weekend at the B.C. midget championsh­ips.

Team Telemark sent 13 athletes to compete against the toughest competitio­n in B.C. and Washington State within four age categories.

The midget championsh­ips are focused on fun and camaraderi­e.

It’s a chance to learn about everyone the athletes race against, and to race in a friendly, enjoyable environmen­t.

Aside from who won the snowball fights, the highlights of the weekend include gold medals from Aya Sentesy (relay), Finn Redman (int. start, sprint) and two silver and two bronze medals in relays. Team Telemark Results: Sylvie Achtem: 2nd relay, 19th sprint, 5th int. start.

Aya Sentesy: 1st relay, 27th sprint, 19th int. start.

Alessia Galvagno: 2nd relay, 8th sprint, 15th int. start.

Jasmine Filatow: 2nd relay, 3rd sprint, 5th int. start.

Finn Redman: 2nd relay, 1st sprint, 1st int. start.

Rowan Musselman-Bell: 2nd relay, 11th sprint, 11th int. start.

Kendra Shaw: 2nd relay, 18th sprint, 15th int. start.

Kaelin Urness: 2nd relay, 12th sprint, 14th int. start.

Sofie Steinruck: 2nd relay, 11th sprint, 3rd int. start.

Jacob Miller: 3rd relay, 20th sprint, 16th int. start.

Jonah Hawes: 3rd relay, 11th sprint, 10th int. start.

Nathan Achtem: 3rd relay, 7th sprint, 15th int. start.

Justin Siever: 3rd relay, 4th sprint, 6th int. start.

For these skiers, this was the last race of the season. The older skiers are competing at the national championsh­ips.
