Solo travel isn’t just for singles

-

Thinking of travelling solo? You’re not alone. If you’ve got a passion for travel and an itch to hit the road (or the beach, if that’s your thing), take off on a solo adventure and see the world from a whole new perspective.

Every traveller is unique. Some of us prefer local, offthe-beaten path experiences, while others thrive on high-paced adventure.

Then there are those curious creatures who don’t like to travel at all. You know some of them, which may consequently make your pool of travel companions woefully small.

So what do you do if you’re all geared up with no one to travel with?

You have two options. Don’t travel at all, or go it alone with G Adventures. Hot destinations for solo travellers 1. Italy for the “local living” experience, staying at an agriturismo and enjoying cooking classes, wine tastings and village walks. 2. Peru to explore the ancient history of the Incas. 3. Indonesia for rest and relaxation. 4. Spain to walk the Camino de Santiago. 5. East Africa for wildlife experiences right out of a National Geographic program.

For the driven, passionate traveller, it can be difficult to find like-minded friends or family members to tag along. So it’s no wonder more and more travellers — especially women — are deciding to get out there and see the world on their own.

In fact, there has been a 148 per cent increase in the number of women travelling solo since 2008 and women aged 42 or older are twice as likely as men to vacation solo.

It’s a growing trend that’s allowing more and more women to see the world on their own terms.

Travelling alone doesn’t mean you’re going to be lonely

Solo travel inspires moments of self-reflection and spontaneity. At the same time you can share and enhance your experience when you choose to join a small group of like-minded travellers. You can decide to maximize your alone time, or embrace the feeling of independence that comes with forming new friendships away from home. You don’t need to be single to travel solo Whatever your relationship status or responsibilities back home, travelling solo is an invigorating experience.

While this might be out of your comfort zone, that’s exactly the point.

Solo travel is an opportunity to find qualities you may not have known you had, and to get to know people you may not have ever met.

If you’re ready to explore some of the world’s incredible destinations but can’t find a travel buddy, consider G Adventures.

Their small-group trips are solo traveller-friendly, letting you skip the search for the best routes or accommodations and focus on what really matters: having the time of your life.
