Okanagan Gymnastics landing on podiums again

Okanagan Gymnastics Centre’s trampoline team participat­ed in the Kamloops Invitation­al this past weekend, showing off their high-flying skills in trials to the Canadian Championsh­ips and Western Canada Cup.

Jordan Yendley competed in the Junior division, where she finished first on trampoline and double mini trampoline.

Andrew Martin competed in the Senior men’s division, where he also finished in first place.

Travis Towers showed off his skills in the Level 6 – Under 17 category, capturing a silver medal.

Taya Lawless won silver and bronze medals on trampoline and double mini trampoline, respective­ly, in the Women’s Level 5, 17-andover category.

Vanna Harris earned a bronze medal in the Women’s Level 5 – Under 16 category, while Janiah Harris won silver in Level 3 tumbling.

Jacob Kochylema topped the podium with a gold medal in Level 3 double mini trampoline, while Nate Banner finished second. Banner also earned a bronze medal in Level 3 trampoline and a silver medal in Level 2 tumbling.

Seija Bishop won gold in Level 3 tumbling, and Ethan Scott also brought home gold in tumbling.

Josh Dumontier claimed a bronze medal in his first competitio­n in Level 1 double mini trampoline.

Meanwhile, the women’s artistic team also enjoyed success at the Kamloops Invitation­al.

In the Level 3, 2008-09 category, Lexi Crawford led the way with the all-around gold medal. Crawford earned gold on vault and bars and silver on beam and bronze on floor.

Milani Ritchie finished in second overall after earning a gold medal on floor, silver on bars and bronze medals on vault and beam.

Makena Ivanitz finished third overall thanks to placing first on the beam with a 9.75, one of two of the highest scores awarded at the competitio­n in all levels. She also earned second on vault.

Hartley Jones finished in top spot in the Level 4, 2008-2009 category. Jones won silver on bars and beam and bronze on floor.

Talia Westwood was second overall, placing first on beam and second on vault.

Rae Roworth finished in first place on bars and beam and took third place on vault.

Summer Houston won the Level 4, 2007-08 category, finishing with gold on vault, silver on bars and bronze on floor.

Elisa Schoen won a silver medal on vault, while Peyton Johal claimed bronze on vault.

Katie Flaten competed in her first Level 4 competitio­n and finished second overall in the 2005-06 age category. Flaten earned gold on floor and bronze on vault, bars and beam, while also winning the Team Spirit Award.

In the Level 5, 2008 category, Izabelle Coetzee captured the all-around title after winning gold on vault and bars and silver on beam and floor.

Tara Dunn finished in first place on bars and beam and third place on floor and all around.

Junelle Sabang finished second on bars and third on vault and beam.

In the Level 5, 2007 category, Shiphra Penner finished second overall with a gold on floor, silver on beam and bronze on bars.

Haylee VanSteinbu­rg earned a gold on beam, silver on vault and floor, and a bronze medal in the all around. Alexandra Kennedy won gold on the vault. In the Level 5, 2005-06 category, Raedyn Furneaux finished second overall after earning gold on beam and silver on vault.

Taylor Morrison captured silver on bars and bronze on beam and floor.

Veronika Yacovelli finished first overall in the Level 6, 2005 category, winning gold for bars, beam and floor.

Kate Levinsen won bronze on vault and floor.

Piper Campo finished first overall in the Level 6, 2006-2008 category, earning first place on beam and floor, while recording the other 9.75 awarded at the competitio­n. Campo also finished third on vault.

In the Level 2 category, the girls were awarded a gold, silver or bronze based on their performanc­e.

Brielle Leach won the overall gold thanks to finishing first on beam and floor, plus second on vault and bars.

Madison Parnell brought home plenty of silver, placing second on vault, bars, beam and floor to finish second overall.

Ruby Hazard also settled for second overall despite winning gold on vault and beam, to go along with silver on floor and bronze on bars.

Peyton Anderston claimed the overall silver after winning gold on beam and floor, silver on bars and bronze on vault.

Leila Turner finished third overall with a silver on floor, and three bronze medals on vault, bars and beam.

Sophia Pauluzzi also claimed the overall bronze after placing third on vault, bars, beam and floor.

At Abbotsford, the men’s artistic team competed in the Twisters Invitation­al.

In the Level 1 category, the athletes captured gold, silver or bronze depending on their performanc­e.

Peyton Henry earned seven golds, winning all six men’s events plus the all-around title — leading the pack of 61 Level 1 boys.

Preston Popoff finished with gold on floor, rings, vault and parallel bars and silver on pommel horse and high bar, for a gold all around.

Carson Rein won bronze on floor, pommel horse and high bars and silver on rings, vault and parallel bars for a silver all around.

Elliot Bone earned gold on the parallel bars in Level 3.

Rylen Thompson’s top placing was fourth on the high bar in Level 3.

Willis Plant finished in first place on pommel horse in the Level 4 category.
