Kelowna rink captures Masters’ title in Kamloops
The Francis Reglin rink represented the Kelowna Curling Club at the Combined BC Interior Masters (60+) Curling Association and the Pacific Coastal Masters Curling Association Championships this past week in Kamloops in the Mixed Competition.
The Reglin rink consisted of skip Francis Reglin, third Deanna Tannas, second Lorne Buna and lead Heather McLaren.
The team lost their first game 6-4 to the eventual Pacific Coastal Champions and Overall Provincial Champion Kondal rink from Duncan.
The Reglin rink got on the winning side of the draw by beating the Enge rink from Delta 8-6 in their second game of the day.
On Thursday, the Reglin team lost a very close game, 7-6, to the Shimizu rink from Richmond. Shimizu ended up second overall for the Combined Championships.
Two games on Friday were both victories. The Reglin foursome defeated the Schmirler rink from Vernon 9-4 in the morning and then beat the Beauchamp rink from Grand Forks 7-3 in the afternoon.
The final game on Saturday morning was against the Skrenek rink, also from Vernon. This game would decide the winner of the BC Interior Masters Curling Association in the Mixed Competition.
The teams were tied in the fifth end and the Reglin rink stole a point in the sixth, then two more in the seventh and four more in the eighth end to become the Interior Champions with an 11-4 victory.
With a 4-2 overall record, the Reglin rink wound up in third place in the Combined Mixed Masters Provincials.
