Medal haul for Kelowna Speed Skaters

The Kelowna Speed Skating Club was well represente­d at the CanWest Short Track Speed Skating Championsh­ips recently held in Abbotsford, with four skaters competing.

Noah Rubuliak had a stellar performanc­e, earning a second-place overall classifica­tion in the 12-year-old boys division. He started out strong with a silver medal and an eightsecon­d personal-best time in the 1,500-metre race, followed by another second place in the 200 metres, with another best time.

On Day 2, Rubuliak raced to a third silver in the 2,000-metre Points Race, a fifth place in the 400 metres and a bronze medal with the TeamBC in the 3,000-metre relay.

Erik Haaheim, competing in the 13-yearold division, captured third place overall with two bronze medals in the 1,500m and the 3,000m Points Race. He also placed fourth in the 400m and fifth in the 200m with new personal-best times, while adding a silver medal in the TeamBC relay.

Caitlyn Collingwoo­d competed in the 12-year-old girls division and placed 10th overall with new personal-best times in the 200m and 400m.

Mackenzie Adams raced in the 13-year-old division and placed 15th overall with a new personal-best time in the 200m.

TeamBC won the overall title for most points earned against the six western provinces and territorie­s.
