The Daily Courier

Impressed with Courier’s editor

-

Dear editor: I want to thank James Miller, the Daily Courier’s managing editor, for the difficult work he does. I moved to Kelowna a couple of months ago, and have been reading the Daily Courier most days.

I was initially shocked at some of the rather extreme views expressed by some contributors, and how harshly judgmental they seemed to be.

I thought that Miller had a peculiar way of choosing the letters that were published, and the uninformed perspectives I read. I’m thinking National Enquirer, only lower.

Over time, I saw opposing views, and realized that Miller is doing a very good job of creating a lively forum for debate.

I myself contributed a distasteful screed, in a moment of craziness, that Miller was kind enough to toss into the recycling bin, where it belonged.

It was one of those emails that was best deleted, and I regret the whole sad event. I would ask all you readers to give a minute of silence for poor Mr. Miller.

He gets to wade through a lot of awful junk, while also trying to give a balanced mix of opinions, some of which should never see the light of day.

Other opinions are extremely well thought out and skillfully written. I’m not referring to myself.

I have never met Mr. Miller. I do feel sorry for him, and also admire his stamina. I’d ask anyone who wants to contribute to do some research into what they are writing about.

This will save both them and the editor from embarrassment. Now I’m referring to myself.

I tip my hat, sir. Paul Hurst Kelowna
