COUNTERFEI­T BILL PASSING RCMP file: 2018-18728

Kelowna RCMP have recently been inundated with files from local businesses where suspects have passed counterfei­t $20 and $50 US bills. The bills have been used at businesses from thrift stores to casinos throughout Kelowna and West Kelowna and are generally not noticed until the deposit is being processed at financial institutio­ns. RCMP investigat­ors suggest retailers protect themselves by becoming familiar with steps to detect counterfei­t currency. April 15 RCMP file: 2018-19281 The owner of an unusual bike called in its disappeara­nce on the morning of April 15 from the 1200 block of Lawson Avenue in Kelowna. The bicycle is described as being a grey Globe customized cycle with an extended tube style frame, two different sized wheels, a wooden deck and bionic motor hub over the back wheel with an electric pedal assist motor over the frame. April 16, 2018 RCMP file: 2018-19419 An employee from Gorman Bros. Lumber contacted West Kelowna RCMP on the morning of April 16 to report the theft of a company welding truck from the 3900 block of Dunfield Road. In its place, thieves abandoned a truck they had stolen earlier in Kelowna, a white Ford F250 pump truck. The stolen vehicle is a grey 1997 Dodge flat deck with a large green “G” on the doors; with VIN 1B6MC36W4V­J619700 and B.C. plate number JW4437. The truck was carrying a blue portable Miller diesel welder. THEFT OF TOOLS FROM TRAILER

April 16 RCMP file: 2018-19421 A constructi­on trailer parked in a Shannon Lake area under developmen­t was broken into overnight April 15-16. The owner arrived to the site on the 2600 block of Paramount Drive just before 8 a.m. to find that approximat­ely $15,000 in tools were missing. Some of the items stolen were: Hitachi 1-3” air coil nail gun, Max 2-3” air coil nail gun, a Honda ultra-quiet 2000i generator, a Makita hammer drill with all attachment­s, a Milwaukee cordless set (complete with three batteries, two chargers, circular saw, drill, impact driver), a Hilti gun, DeWalt drills, impact drivers, jigsaws, hammer drills and two ladders. April 17, 2018 RCMP file: 2018-19723 A resident of a lake home on the 12000 block of Trewhitt Road in Lake Country called RCMP when floating buoys worth thousands of dollars went missing overnight April 16-17. The five buoys (of unknown brand and colour) were in the water to mark the swimming area in front of the property. THEFT OF LAWN FURNITURE

April 17 RCMP file: 2018-19604 and 2018-19607 Lawn furniture thieves hit the Lakes subdivisio­n in Lake Country on April 15 between 1 and 4 a.m. Homes on the 13000 block of Gibbons Drive reported pieces of furniture had been stolen from their decks. One home had a smoky grey storage box-style coffee table with wicker designs on the sides and a grey stone top (measuring approximat­ely 4’ x 2.5’) stolen and the other home is missing a bike-shaped planter and a cushion storage bin.
