- By Daily Courier Staff

A sedan reportedly connected to a shooting in Vernon earlier this week has been recovered.

Just before noon Monday, Vernon RCMP responded to a shooting at 2707 43 Ave.

Police found a lone male in a vehicle with gunshot wounds.

The 24-year-old Vernon man remains in hospital in serious condition.

The alleged shooter, described as a five-foot-nine Caucasian man with blond hair, was seen leaving the area in a 1996 grey Ford Crown Victoria with a sticker in the lower passenger-side rear window.

At 8:35 p.m., Penticton RCMP were called to a motel in the 800 block of Westminster Avenue for a report of a man with a gun. The man was seen in possession of a high-visibility vest and matched the description of the suspect in the Vernon shooting. He fled before police arrived. At 8:46 p.m., Penticton RCMP received a report of a carjacking in the 100 block of Maple Street.

The victim, driving a bluish-grey Pontiac Vibe, reported a male, matching the description of both previous incidents, asked for a ride to the hospital to see a sick family member.

One inside the car, the male assaulted the victim, who was forced from the vehicle in the 900 block of Main Street.

The victim suffered injuries that were serious but not life threatening.

At 8:35 a.m. Tuesday, Penticton RCMP were notified the victim’s stolen vehicle was nearing the Departure Bay ferry terminal in Nanaimo.

Nanaimo RCMP were called to assist in arresting the driver as the vehicle left the ferry.

An unnamed driver was killed Tuesday when shots were fired at the ferry terminal in Nanaimo, and the province’s police watchdog is now investigating.

“Investigators are actively working to either confirm or eliminate information in order to conclusively determine if the various incidents are connected, if they are connected to a single individual, or if others are involved,” the RCMP says in the release.

On Thursday afternoon, Vernon RCMP reported the Ford Crown Victoria associated with the Vernon shooting had been found.
