Convicted trafficker awaits sentencing
Date was to be set Monday, but Behrang Khosravi’s lawyer asked for a delay
A Vancouver man convicted of trafficking drugs in the Central Okanagan appeared briefly in court Monday, awaiting sentencing.
On July 27, 2016, RCMP arrested two men believed to be tied to a gang in the Lower Mainland, who were trying to establish business in Kelowna, police said at the time.
A search of a local hotel room and each of the men’s vehicle’s yielded 5.25 ounces of a mixture of heroin, fentanyl and methamphetamine, 8.75 ounces of cocaine, 2.5 ounces of methamphetamine and $21,000 in cash.
Behrang Khosravi was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.
Coquitlam resident Joseph Bergeron was charged with possession of property obtained by crime.
In April, Khosravi pleaded not guilty to three counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
At the conclusion of the trial earlier this month, Justice Alan Betton found Khosravi guilty of those three charges.
Khosravi appeared in court by video Monday to fix a date for sentencing, but defence lawyer Jordan Watt requested the matter be adjourned for a week.
Khosravi is scheduled to appear in court June 4 to fix a date for sentencing.
