Tomorrow is the first match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup soccer tournament as host-country Russia takes on Saudi Arabia at 8 a.m.

The match I am looking forward to watching will be on Monday when Tunisia plays England.

With a probability rate of an English win being 67 per cent, I’m hoping the statistics will be right, but the three lions on the English shirts can be a hefty burden and to be honest, I usually feel let down.

Still, I follow the beautiful game with passion and verve. The Train Station Pub on Ellis Street will be showing each game on their television sets. I guess I should book my table for the final.

————— The Canadian School of Ballet presents The Greatest Showcase. Enjoy an entertaining evening of wonderful music and great dancing on Friday at the Kelowna Community Theatre. Tickets are $25 plus fees through Kelowna Tickets at Orchard Park mall, online or by calling the box office at 250-862-2867.

————— Also happening Friday is An Evening of Musical Theatre accompanied by the amazing pianist maestro and musical director of Kelowna Actors Studio, Roslyn Frantz.

This is a fundraising concert to help three talented young students — Emily Dehod, Megan Edwards and Tiernan LafleurJohnson — who have been accepted to study at theatre programs across Canada and in the U.K. with tuition fees and the costs of education. I have seen or worked with all three of these young adults at the Kelowna Actors Studio and look forward to watching them succeed. The concert will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Cathedral, 608 Sutherland Ave. and will begin at 7:30 p.m. You can purchase tickets at the door for $25 (general), $20 (students), but it is a fundraiser, so if you have more to give, then why not pay more.

————— There are a few more tickets left for the country music charity concert to benefit Mamas for Mamas at the OK Corral Cabaret on Saturday. Mamas Gone Country with Aaron Pritchett, Ben Klick and Casey Clarke will be a shin dig of fun. Bring your cowboy hats and dancing shoes and with a bull riding contest, a unique Flash and Frame photo booth, a variety of food trucks there will be a hot time in the ol town tonight.

The event begins at 7 p.m. and you can get your tickets through mamasformamas.ca/tickets.

————— Saturday also brings an interesting event to the Rotary Centre for the Arts — Artini: the art of food & drink. The evening invites guests to blend food, cocktails and art while listening to Vancouver’s funk and soul dynamo Dawn Pemberton. Tickets are $30 for adults with discounts for members and seniors. You can purchase them at the Rotary Centre for the Arts box-office at 421 Cawston Ave. The event runs from 7:30 p.m. to midnight. ————— The Vibrant Vines Terrace Lawn is open for business again this year with a revamp and lick of paint and where the music comes to life. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer, enjoy hanging out, sipping something nice while listening to the talents of the Okanagan.

This is a free event. Adam Meachem opens the concert series on Saturday from 1.30 p.m. Make sure you get down there to have a listen to this talented guitarist whom I’ve had the pleasure of listening to many times.

On Friday June 29, from 4 to 7 p.m., I’ll be on stage with my amazing 3-oh! Trio. For a list of all acts in the series visit thevibrantvine.com/vibes-at-the-vine.

The Vibrant Vine is located at 3240 Pooley Rd. in East Kelowna.

————— On Sunday, bring your furry friend to the third annual Pet2gether In “The Barking Lot.”

This pet friendly farmers market takes place at at Sutherland Plaza, 1551 Sutherland Ave., from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Lots of booths of local businesses in the pet industry. Like minded lovers of dogs can get together and enjoy a date with your mate.
