A lot for visitors to do this summer at Quails’ Gate

-

Quails’ Gate Winery is ready for summer guests with new events, food, accommodation and of course, wine.

Guests can enjoy a meal at Old Vines Restaurant, which was named one of the top 100 restaurants in Canada, or opt for the popular Dinner in the Vineyard series that returns to Quails’ Gate Winery Wednesday evenings in July and August.

Guests will enjoy a four-course farm-to-vineyard dinner paired with Quails’ Gate’s award-winning wines at a long table nestled amongst the vines with a view of the lake.

Dinner in the Vineyard costs $185, all inclusive.

New this year is Yoga in the Vineyard Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. in July and August. Take in the sweeping view of Okanagan Lake from the winery’s Harvest Gathering site while enjoying a rejuvenating yoga class from Oxygen Yoga and Fitness Westbank. After class, guests will enjoy a glass of featured wine paired with charcuterie and small plates from Old Vines Restaurant. Yoga in the Vineyard costs $45, all inclusive.

Book dinner or yoga online through quailsgate.com.

Quails’ Gate offers accommodation at the Lake House and the Nest below the winery on the shores of Okanagan Lake.

The Nest was originally the Stewart family’s A-frame cottage. The cottage was brought across the lake to the Westside by barge and renovated. The Nest sleeps seven and is good for company retreats or a family reunion.

The Lake House, which was originally a residence of the Stewart family, has been added to over the years. It now accommodates 14 guests, with five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a chef kitchen and a stunning lake view.

Nikki Callaway, Quails’ Gate’s winemaker, had been concerned about the flavours of the 2017 whites not ripening enough because of the lack of direct sunlight due to smoke and cloud in the valley last summer; however she was surprised with the aromatics.

“The rose is beautiful,” she said. “The Lucy’s Block is a nice tribute to Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir.”

Callaway said the Chenin Blanc was as always really nice this year with quite a lot of acidity in it.

The B.M.V. Reisling is a new wine to the Quails’ Gate collection. It’s a different style of Riesling and is a tribute to the first age-ready Riesling vines planted at the Boucherie Mountain Vineyards.

Callaway noted the wine is an oldworld style Riesling, barrel fermented with no yeasts .

Quails’ Gate Winery is located at 3303 Boucherie Rd.
