$30K in drugs, cash seized from home in Lake Country
A woman’s arrest in Vernon led to the seizure of $30,000 worth of drugs and money from a Lake Country home, Vernon RCMP said Friday.
Police say their investigation hit a group that had been supplying drugs in the Vernon area.
The takedown started when police arrested a 34-year-old woman on June 22 around 35A Street and 41 Avenue. She was found to be in possession of a heroin-fentanyl mix and cocaine packaged for street sales as well as a large amount of cash.
Following the arrest, police raided a condo complex in the 3100 block of Beaver Lake Road, where they discovered heroin laced with fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and cash.
The heroin-fentanyl mix was packaged in 0.1- and 0.2-gram weights for a total of 523 street-level portions. The crack cocaine was packaged in 0.2- and 0.4-gram weights for a total of 457 street-level portions. The methamphetamine was packaged in 0.4gram weights for a total of 82 street-level portions, police said.
“This investigation targeted persons controlling the drug supply above the streetlevel dealer and will have a significant impact on the group’s operations in our community,” said Sgt. David Evans of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP Targeted Policing Unit in a news release.
The woman was released from custody on condition she appear in court to face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
