- By Daily Courier Staff

This month, the Kelowna Seniors Outreach and Resource Centre is participating in a fundraiser for charitable organizations that serve seniors.

Give 65 is a 65-hour online giving event taking place across Canada.

The Seniors Outreach and Resource Centre will be raising money for its outreach program, which is a social-worker program that assists seniors in their homes.

Assistance can include help applying for benefits, completing forms and getting connected to supports such as subsidized housing.

“Give 65 allows us to help seniors in our community while raising awareness of the critical need for the programs and services that so many rely on,” said Vi Sorenson, executive director of Seniors Outreach.

Seniors Outreach will receive up to $5,000 in matched funds from the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation of Canada.

It is also competing for a $2,500 bonus grant.

Six bonus grants are available to the charities that raise the most money or have the most donors.

Donations of $10 or more are accepted online at give65.ca.

The fundraising event begins at 6 a.m. on Tuesday and ends at 10 p.m. July 12.
