3 from Kelowna to sell pot to province
Doja, THC and Flowr to supply BCLDB in fall
Three Kelowna marijuana-growing companies are among 31 province-wide to sign distribution deals with the B.C. Liquor Distribution Branch.
Doja Cannabis Ltd, THC BioMed Inc., and The Flowr Corporation will sell a variety of pot products to the LDB, in anticipation of the drug becoming legal this October.
“We look forward to providing adult Canadians with an exceptional product,” John Miller, president and CEO of THC, said in a release.
The company will sell 2.4 million grams of cannabis to the LDB in the first 12 months of the drug’s legalization. The cannabis will be in 19 different products and in the form of dried flower, pre-rolled and oil.
“This supply agreement cements our entry into the adult-use recreational market,” Miller said. “For THC, it brings a fundamental change as we now begin to exhibit our true strengths, allowing the business to grow organically.”
For its part, Flowr Corporation says on its website: “We will be working together with the BCLDB to ensure consistent supply of premium quality cannabis products.”
Doja Cannabis was started by local entrepreneur Trent Kitsch, who made a personal fortune with the Saxx line of men’s underwear. Kitsch also owns a Kelowna winery.
The LDB is the province's sole wholesaler of non-medical cannabis. As well as buying pot from licensed growers and re-selling it to private outlets, the LDB also plans to open its own cannabis stores.
