Parents thank Lori Grant

-

Dear Editor: My wife and I moved to Penticton 24 years ago and our children attended West Bench Elementary, Skaha Lake Middle School, Princess Margaret and Pen-Hi.

My wife was president of the parents advisory committee (PAC) at West Bench for five years. We met almost every teacher and principal in town at the time and found the schools and staff to be exceptional.

For us, two of the people that stood out, even in that exceptional setting were Bruce Johnson and Lori Grant. While Bruce and Lori differed in personality for sure, they both were highly devoted and committed to their work and students.

Ms. Grant was particularly influential in our son’s school experience. While sports and academics often get the most attention at our schools, drama and theatre were also notable at Princess Margaret due in large part to the efforts of Lori Grant.

She recognized and nurtured the talent and passion that our son possessed for the stage and theatre and was instrumental in him becoming the “triple threat” (outstanding singing, dancing and acting) that he is today.

He is now a professional stage actor in Vancouver and owes much of his success to his school years with Lori Grant. They keep in contact to this day. Thank you Lori! Larry and Laurie Hunter
