Experience Haven
Go ahead. Lift up the duvet and touch this mattress. Maybe even flop on the bed to feel how comfortable it is.
It’s the queen-size set-up in the Kestrel Ridge show home in Kelowna’s Upper Mission, featuring the high-density memory foam and renewable-bamboo mattress from Kelowna-based Haven Mattress Company.
“We think it’s a brilliant collaboration,” said Haven CEO Scott Amis.
“Haven customers want to see and touch the product in a natural sleeping setting. The team at Rykon (the developer of Kestrel Ridge) have built a beautiful location to showcase all that the Okanagan has to offer.”
Rykon was happy do it to spotlight an innovative local product and enhance the expertly-staged show home.
In fact, it’s being billed as a Haven Experience Centre and the first of what Haven hopes is many in show homes across Canada.
Such exposure is important to Haven because it’s exclusively an online seller at HavenMattress.ca.
A queen-size mattress costs about $1,000, including shipping.
To ship, mattresses are compressed, rolled and vacuum-sealed to the size of a set of golf clubs.
The foam plumps right back up when unpacked.
What makes Haven so special is its proprietary design of high-density supportive memory foam that contours to the body and doesn’t sag.
The renewable bamboo-fibre topper has venting and cool-gel wicking technology to keep your body temperature regulated for a restful night’s sleep.
Haven was also in the news last year when it struck a deal with Bryan and Sarah Baeumlers from the HGTV show Bryan Inc. to be brand ambassadors, promoting Haven to their 150,000 Instagram followers and at charity events.
Haven gives a mattress to charity for every 10 it sells.
Amis was general manager at Kelowna BMW before he came across a “life-changing mattress” and got into that business.
Haven mattresses are made at Amis’ brother’s factory in Moncton where brands for Sleep Country and The Brick are also manufactured.
The show home for Kestral Ridge is at 5422 Upper Mission Drive and is open daily from noon to 4 p.m. Lake Country.
It will include greenhouses for growing pot, laboratories and research facilities.
