Regional District of Kootenay Boundary Bylaw No. 1695 to amend Big White OCP Bylaw No. 1125 and Bylaw No. 1696 to amend Zoning Bylaw No. 1166

What is the purpose of OCP Amendment Bylaw No. 1695, 2018?

Bylaw No. 1695 would amend the Big White OCP Bylaw No. 1125, 2001 by adding a policy under Section 3.12 (Commercial Objectives) to permit cannabis retail sales only upon applicatio­n for a zoning amendment.

What is the purpose of Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1696, 2018?

Bylaw No. 1696 would amend the Big White Zoning Bylaw No. 1166, 2001 by adding a definition for ‘Cannabis’ and ‘Cannabis Retail Store’. Cannabis Retail Stores would be listed as a prohibited use unless expressly listed in a Zone.

Who will be at the public hearing?

Director Vicki Gee has been delegated by the RDKB Board of Directors to preside over the hearing. RDKB staff will attend as well.

How can I get more informatio­n?

A copy of the bylaws, the Board’s resolution delegating the public hearing to Director Gee, and supporting documents are available for inspection at the RDKB offices. The documents are available in the Trail office from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (843 Rossland Avenue) and the Grand Forks RDKB office from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (2140 Central Avenue) Monday to Friday (excluding statutory holidays) from now until the date of the public hearing. These documents are also available online at www.rdkb.com.

How does the public hearing work?

Those in attendance are given the opportunit­y to speak. If you are unable to attend the hearing, written submission­s can be forwarded to the RDKB office in Trail until 2 p.m. on the day of the hearing. All verbal and written submission­s become part of the public record. The RDKB Board cannot accept submission­s after the public hearing has closed.
