Migraine sufferers sought for research
Okanagan Clinical Trials is looking for adults suffering from treatment-resistant migraines to participate in a clinical research study.
“Many people suffer from debilitating migraine headaches, and despite the availability of preventative medications many people do not respond to these treatments or are unable to tolerate them,” said Dr. Sally Godsell, general practitioner and investigator for Okanagan Clinical Trials. “We are always looking for promising medications to help them.”
The study drug will be given to participants by injection once a month.
Participants must be between 19 and 75 years old and must be able to provide medical or pharmacy records of previous failure in two to four migraine preventative medication categories in the past 10 years.
Volunteers meeting these and other criteria will be asked to undergo a screening visit to determine eligibility.
Around 420 subjects with treatment-resistant migraines will participate worldwide.
Okanagan Clinical Trials is one of three sites in Canada selected in this study.
The duration of the study is about eight months.
All study drug and study procedures will be provided to participants at no cost.
Participants may also be reimbursed for their travel and other incidental expenses.
