Best Halloween video games ever

- SASCHA HEIST

With Halloween just, a few days past why not relive those horror days with some truly horrific gaming titles.

This first horror game is a classic and still holds up all these years later.

Resident Evil 4 was the first time the series truly felt like the horror aspect had returned to the series. Add to that one of the best stories of the series with the best controls and you have a true classic. This game was first launched on the GameCube and has relaunched on every system along the way. With a scary setting, and frightening enemies, Resident Evil 4 will always be the game that others will strive to be.

Another one of my favourite horror titles that came out a few years ago is The Evil Within 2. This game had all the thrills and scares that you want from a modern horror title. Add a high-replay story and great controls and you have another title to play with the lights out and the sound high. The game even had a story that included many twists and great boss battles.

One series that every gamer needs to try is the Dead Space series of games. There is just something about being the only person on a space-station surrounded by creatures that nightmares are made from. The sound design is something to be experienced in real surround sound glory. Dead Space spanned three games with each as scary and tense as the past games with stories that rival any triple A game. With many of the games in the series, only a few dollars (or even free with Xbox Gold) there’s no reason to not finally dive into the games.

Red Dead Undead Nightmare might seem like an odd choice, but with the large setting of Red Dead Redemption 1 — and then throw zombies into that mix — you have a fun game. With zombie hordes that were once town folks, zombie animals and even zombie horses to ride, this is another great game to play this time of year.

Look for my Red Dead Redemption 2 review coming next week along with my Holiday Guide coming soon.
