OILERS 1, STARS 0 (OT)

EDMONTON — Oscar Klefbom’s first goal of the season came in overtime as the Edmonton Oilers came away with a 1-0 victory over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. Goalie Mikko Koskinen made 28 saves to earn his second career shutout for Edmonton (11-11-2).

Anton Khudobin stopped 30 shots in net as the Stars (1211-2) lost for the fourth time in their past five games. Leon Draisaitl made a perfect pass 2:42 into overtime to set up Klefbom for the winner as the Oilers snapped a two-game losing skid.

Koskinen stoned Dallas captain Jamie Benn in the final seconds of regulation time.

Just 1:15 into overtime, Connor McDavid had a breakaway and it appeared the puck had crossed the line, but the ref disallowed that goal based on a video review.

PENGUINS 4, JETS 3

WINNIPEG — Zach Aston-Reese capped off a third-period rally as the Pittsburgh Penguins downed the Winnipeg Jets 4-3 on Tuesday night.

Sidney Crosby, Riley Sheahan and Derek Grant also scored for the Penguins (10-8-5).

Mark Scheifele scored twice for the Jets (138-2) and Brandon Tanev got things started for Winnipeg with his fourth goal of the season, coming on a shorthanded breakaway with a wraparound that beat Casey DeSmith.

Crosby tied it up at the 18:13 mark of the first period with a slick up-close backhander that fooled Jets netminder Connor Hellebuyck. It was Crosby’s 10th goal of the season.

Phil Kessel set up Aston-Reese for his second goal of the season with a perfect pass to the front of the net at 14:48 of the third.

DeSmith has been starting in place of Matt Murray, sidelined by a lower-body injury.

SENATORS 4, FLYERS 3

PHILADELPHIA — Brady Tkachuk scored twice in the third period and Matt Duchene scored the eventual winner with 2:59 left, lifting the Ottawa Senators to a 4-3 win over Philadelphia on Tuesday night in the Flyers’ first game since they fired general manager Ron Hextall. The Flyers showed why Hextall is out of work and coach Dave Hakstol could be the next to go. They coughed up a 3-1 lead over the final 6 1/2 minutes and have lost six of seven.

Tkachuk made it 3-2 and then tied it on a tip-in with 6:31 remaining. The Flyers turned it over in their end and Duchene batted the puck past Anthony Stolarz into the net for a 4-3 lead.

Jake Voracek, Radko Gudas and Travis Konecny scored for the Flyers in front of scores of empty seats inside a home arena once among the most imposing in the NHL.

Hakstol is on the hot seat in his fourth year.

HURRICANES 2, HABS 1

MONTREAL — Shea Weber’s return from injury gave a big boost to the Montreal Canadiens even though they couldn’t come away with the victory.

Weber played in his first game since Dec. 16, 2017 as the Canadiens lost 2-1 to the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night, foiled by 48 saves from Curtis McElhinney.

The 33-year-old Weber missed 73 games after having two surgeries — one on his right knee and another to repair a torn tendon in his left foot. “Definitely felt better as the game went on,” said the Canadiens defenceman, who wore the captain’s “C” on his Montreal sweater for the first time. “I think it’s going to keep getting better as we go here.

“Was nervous before the game and anxious to get my first shift out of the way.”

Weber assisted on Montreal’s third-period goal by Phillip Danault.
