Vernon men accused of dealing death
Two Vernon men face charges after police nabbed them allegedly dealing fentanyl this week.
The RCMP targeted policing unit arrested a 50-year-old Vernon man Wednesday in the 2300 block of 43 Street for possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking after it was believed he was dealing from his vehicle.
Through further investigation, officers were led to an address on Browne Road, where a 25-year-old man was arrested in connection to the drug trafficking group.
On Thursday, officers executed a search warrant at the Browne Road address, where numerous items were seized, including: a large quantity of what is believed to be fentanyl, two restricted handguns, a large quantity of cash, body armour and other items related to drug trafficking.
“Our targeted policing unit continues to work against drug trafficking by intercepting and investigating criminals who operate in our city,” said Sgt. David Evans. “Getting a large amount of fentanyl and firearms off the street is important for public safety, which remains our top priority.”
The 50-year-old Vernon man faces possible charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and the 25-year-old Vernon man is facing possible charges of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and other firearms-related charges.
