Food bank keeps mom’s spirits high

- By DAVID TRIFUNOV

In the end, D’Vinci and Hendrix are still brothers despite their differences.

D’Vinci, 9, is the introspective type who loves reading and science.

“He groans at me whenever I make a bad pun,” mom Tina says.

His five-year-old brother, however, is the life of the party.

And while the house can sometimes sound like two great enemies are at war, they always call a truce in the end.

“They’re both quite funny. They definitely have their wits about them” Tina adds.

Tina is a single mom, and it’s only this year she’s been able to work more now that both her boys are in school.

Up until then, she’s strived for some kind of balance between being with her kids, and providing for them.

That’s why she turned to the Central Okanagan Food Bank for help.Hers is one family you can help this year by donating to Be an Angel.

“I’m still trying to get back on my feet,” Tina says.

She’s optimistic, however, and help from the food bank has kept Tina’s spirits high.

She suggests to readers that donations to Be an Angel are doing more than putting food on tables.

“Without the food bank, I wouldn’t be able to give my boys the Christmas they deserve,” she says. “It’s definitely heartfelt and appreciated.’’
