Agriculture minister to visit Monday
Federal Agriculture Minister MarieClaude Bibeau will be in the Okanagan on Monday to make two announcements supporting local farmers.
Bibeau will be in Vernon in the morning to announce support for B.C. farmers dealing with farm income challenges, according to a press release.
In the afternoon, she’ll be at the BC Tree Fruit Market in Kelowna to announce support for the B.C. tree fruit industry, the press release said.
Flood-mitigation study proposed
Ways to better defend flood-prone shoreline areas in Kelowna would be identified in a proposed study.
The city hopes to get a $75,000 grant for a flood-mitigation study that will examine Kelowna’s entire 35kilometre waterfront.
The study aims to suggest what specific measures could be taken at particularly vulnerable areas along the shoreline.
When Okanagan Lake rose to record levels during the spring of 2017, most of the damage to shoreline properties and infrastructure was caused by wave action, according to a report going to city council on Monday.
City selling off used high-tech gear
The City of West Kelowna has put used computer equipment up for auction or direct sale on eBay.
Up for sale are more than 110 items, including iPhones, iPads, laptops and computers.
The equipment no longer meets the city’s needs but is in good working order.
Interested buyers can access the online auction at ebay.ca/usr/westkelownacity.
The auction will end on Thursday. All sales are as is, and the city will not provide technical support. All items are for local pickup only.
