Wilson-Raybould gave Tories roses
Dear editor:
It is with bemusement I read about how “admired” and “respected” that Jody Wilson-Raybould is. The Conservatives actually applauded her after her testimony.
Of course they applauded her — she gave them a political bouquet of roses. They were in ecstasy. Here was an opposition MP who threw her prime minister and party leader — along with 11 of her MP colleagues — under the bus, possibly costing them their jobs come next election. To say nothing of the resignation of Gerald Butts and the possible defeat of the Liberal government.
They were all lying — she said so. Hmm. Do you actually believe that the Conservatives admire or respect her? Not a chance. If it were one of their colleagues who turned on them, there would be nothing but loathing. They are just thanking/applauding her for her service to the Conservative party and disloyalty to the Liberal party. And they are laughing up their sleeves at her — but they will milk the situation for all they can get.
There are demeaning jokes about lawyers and there are demeaning jokes about politicians, but I am sure that backroom jokes and comments about this lawyer-politician’s loyalty and ethics will reverberate through political backrooms for years.
She now is daring the prime minister to exclude her as a Liberal candidate in the next election. This must not be allowed. The PM must exclude her and her crony from both caucus and running as future Liberal candidates. If they then run as Conservatives, we may finally realize what this exercise is all about and their true intentions and values will be revealed. Patrick MacDonald Abbotsford
