About 1,500 people hit the YLW Spring Travel Show on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kelowna International Airport to find out where they should travel to this spring and summer.

Airlines, travel agents, hotels, resorts and destinations all had booths at the show.

Blair Hirtle, the Western Canada representative for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, was there touting Sin City.

Swoop from Kelowna to Vegas

“Swoop Airlines has two flights a week non-stop between Kelowna and Las Vegas, so it’s so easy to visit us and stay in one of the newly renovated hotels and casinos, take in a Las Vegas Golden Knights hockey game, a Las Vegas Raiders football game when the team comes to Vegas for the 202021 season or catch one of the shows,” said Hirtle.

“Aerosmith, Cher, Shania, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carrey, Diana Ross and Gwen Stefani all have residencies right now.”

Swoop will also fly between Kelowna and Winnipeg in the spring and summer.

Edmonton a great connection airport

Deanna Dow from Edmonton International Airport was at the show promoting Edmonton as a great connection airport from Kelowna to points in the U.S., Central and Eastern Canada and Europe.

“Kelowna has eight flights a day to Edmonton with WestJet, Air Canada and Flair,” she said.

“So it’s so easy to connect in Edmonton from Kelowna. We’re especially happy to have Condor Airlines offering non-stop from Edmonton to Frankfurt on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 1 to Sept. 10. WestJet is affiliated with Condor, so you can book Kelowna-Edmonton-Frankfurt and have your luggage checked all the way through, too.”

Edmonton International Airport supplied the raffle grand prize of return airfare for two, KelownaEdmonton-Frankfurt, with WestJet and Condor.

Travel to Europe for vacations and within Canada to visit friends and relatives are the two most popular categories of holidays for people flying from Kelowna International Airport in the spring and summer.
