Westbank Library has re-opened

While the Westside Learning Lab remains closed, the Westbank Library has reopened to the public with occupancy limits.

People can enter the library, browse the collection and self-checkout books, DVDs and other materials.

Public computers have been moved to ensure public distancing, hand sanitizing stations have been set up for patrons as they enter the building and acrylic barriers have been installed at the deck. Visitors are encouraged to wear a mask.

Meeting rooms, meeting spaces, study rooms, public seating and other gathering areas are closed to the public. Patrons are encouraged to select materials quickly and check them out using the self-checkout if possible.

Programmin­g, such as story time and Summer Reading Club programs will remain online.

Library hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The West Kelowna Encore Theatre has temporaril­y closed again due to low attendance and no new movies coming out.

Due to concerns over the rise of COVID-19 cases linked to the region, the Greater Westside Board of Trade has cancelled all in-person events for the remainder of the years.

This includes the cancellati­on of the Sept. 9 Business After Hours, the board of trade’s Golf Classic Tournament Sept. 11 as well as the inperson portion of their Key Business Awards.

The Fintry Estates have reopened. The Manor House is open with limited or no access to some rooms.

There are capacity and distancing requiremen­ts as wells as safety measures and protocols. Manor House tours are available Thursday to Sunday 1-4 p.m. with the last tour entering at 3:30 p.m.

The Octagonal Dairy Barn is open with limited public access with capacity and distancing requiremen­ts, safety measures and protocols.

The barn is open for tours Fridays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to noon with the last entry at 11:45 a.m. Barn tours are self-guided with staff or volunteers on-site to answer questions. Tours of the manor house and barn are by donation.

With the provincial COVID-19 Restart guidelines, the Regional District is providing limited, in-person service from its KLO Road building.

Public visits are available weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.; however, residents are encouraged to save time and travel by continuing to contact staff by phone or email or seek out informatio­n online through the rdco.com website.

Customers requiring specialize­d services like developmen­t applicatio­ns and building inspection­s should continue to arrange appointmen­ts with staff by phone or email. A department directory is available at rdco.com/directory.

The Regional District has a number of protocols for visitors to its administra­tion building including a limit on the number of visitors to the building, if possible, one per party, personal hygiene requiremen­ts on entry, physical distancing in public areas and when dealing with staff, increased daily cleaning and sanitation of common contact surfaces and the installati­on of barriers to reduce potential transmissi­on of COVID-19.

The Environmen­tal Education Centre for the Okanagan in Mission Creek Regional Park is open Tuesday through Sunday for a maximum of five physically distanced visitors.

The RDCO Dog Pound at 890 Weddell Pl. is open with a maximum of one visitor and continues to encourage dog drop off/pick up services by appointmen­t at 250-469-6284 or info-dogcontrol@rdco.com.
