Alzheimer webinars
Alzheimer Society of B.C. is urging area residents not to forget about people living with dementia and their caregivers. One way the Alzheimer Society of B.C. is offering support is through free weekly webinars. Tai Chi
Get active with Tai Chi. Masks are mandatory and social distancing is in effect. Classes take place Monday and Thursday at the Westside Tae Kwon Do building at 2109C Louie Dr. with Beginner Tai Chi from 9 to 10 a.m. and Ongoing Tai Chi from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. Beginner and Ongoing Tai Chi classes are also available Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Westbank United Church at 3672 Brown Rd. Intro to Coding Club: First Timers’ Class available online from 5 to 5:30 p.m. through the Okanagan Regional Library. Kids eight to 12 years old can take in this 30-minute meeting and be introduced to the development platforms and familiarize themselves with the coding tools. This class is a prerequisite to the Online Coding Club.

The seated class of Tai Chi is held indoors at the Sarafanov Ballet Studio, 2035A Louie Dr. Fridays from 9 to 10 a.m. for beginners and 10 to 11:15 a.m. for the ongoing class. Pull up a chair and join Wine Country Tai Chi as they work on balance, coordination, energy, flexibility and circulation to optimize your health. The class can be adapted according to your mobility or health challenges. New beginners always welcome. Physical distancing of six feet will be observed and masks will be required at this time. The Central Okanagan Hospice
Association offers a Nutrition and Hydration workshop for caregivers from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. with Noelle Pascoe, registered dietitian, as part of its eight-week virtual Family Caregiver Education series. Pascoe will present information and practical strategies surrounding nutrition and hydration in aging and end of life as it relates to the caregiver. Crossing Creek Community Theatre is holding auditions for actors 18 years and older for its February production of the Carol Burnett Show from 4 p.m. onward at
Powers Creek Community Church at 3718 Glenway Rd. Auditions will be held in 30minute sessions as COVID-19 protocol limits the capacity of the hall. Masks welcome. Health seminar
Grizzli Winery offers a free health seminar with Dr. Alana Hendrickson at 1 p.m. as part of its Collectif Series. Timeless Beauty: Aging Gracefully from the Inside Out and the Outside In, will see Hendrickson, a naturopathic physician at the Helix Clinic in Kelowna, talk on how to approach aging well. The talk will focus on both supporting your body internally through the aging process and how we can approach skin care and aesthetics effectively and tastefully.
