It is with heavy hearts we announce that our wonderful mom, Joan McClelland (née Favell) passed away on July 2, 2022. She is survived by her 5 children, Darlene Krebs, Cindy (Aron)Teichroeb, Mel (Maureen) McClelland, Carol (Paul) StMaurice, Russel McClelland, as well as 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sister, Doreen (Aaron) Tataryn and many nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her loving husband, Mel, after 61 years together, and was also predeceased by 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Mom was born in Kelowna on May 17, 1934, to Clarence and Edna Favell. She grew up in the Okanagan Mission area and enjoyed life with her parents and siblings in a log cabin where gardening, hard work and music were a part of daily life.

whatever odd jobs they could. In later years, Mom attended high school at KSS, and held various jobs including working at the packinghouse and as a waitress at Tillie’s restaurant. Mom and her sisters loved going to local dances; that is where she met Dad and eventually married him in 1958. Mom and Dad worked hard and bought a little house on a piece of land just a stone’s throw from her parent’s log cabin. Mom took care of us kids, cooked, cleaned, picked fruit and did all she could while Dad was logging away from home for days at a time. Eventually the logging business grew into a great success and our parents were able to build their dream home. Over the years they enjoyed trips together to places like Reno, Vegas

Horseshoe Club where Dad earned many trophies and Mom loved to keep score and play cards. They also loved watching Blue Jays baseball and having occasional nights out to the casino! Mom and Dad loved to spend time with family and friends. Dad’s fun sense of humour would often have Mom telling us ‘not to laugh and encourage him’. We lost Dad in 2019. After a valiant battle with her own health issues, Mom has gone to join him. Our parents showed us the meaning of hard work, the importance and joy of gathering together and celebrating holidays and special occasions, the meaning of family and how to laugh and meet life head on! Our parents came from a generation that truly knew how to make the most of what you have. We were blessed to have the best parents ever. We love you, Mom and Dad, and keep you in our hearts every day. A private service will be held. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting
