Thank God for Trump

I truly believe it: Thank God for Trump. I also believe he is the reason that reasoning will trump ignorance in the near future.

The line between church and state is about as porous as the American and Canadian border. As you well know, like it or not, we Canucks are in bed with the United States, and when they pass gas, we smell it, eh?

As a Native man, I know firsthand how it feels to be brow-beaten by religion.

Natives of this great land were ‘owned’ by the government and church. Natives had no rights; we couldn’t vote, choose where we could live or to which god to bow down to. Our freedoms were taken away little by little – so I no longer believe that in all the vastness of space, there is some ‘holy ghost’ that rules all – including you and I.

The church is quickly losing control of their brainwashed minions. And as every intelligent person knows, it’s all about control. As the top holy-roller in a country, it’s their divine right to convince their robotic zealots to bomb abortion clinics, murder gay people and have sex with underage girls; and still get into Valhalla, heaven or Shangri-La.

If you know a bully, you know that violence has always been used by people who can’t answer common sense questions, like why do religions preach peace yet make war? If there is supposed to be a separation of church and state, why do politicians always end speeches with ‘God bless you’?

Isn’t God supposed to love every one of his creations? Didn’t he make man in his own image? Whatever happened to thou shall not kill, and the host of other commandments man has broken on their quest for political power.

Can you imagine seeing people walk down your street with AR-15s? How about women that get raped, and are forced to give birth to some creep’s child? Will the colour of your skin determine your fate? Can you imagine no more gay, gay parades?

My cousin is gay, and back when I was a stupid, ignorant kid, I hated him, just like my father did. I didn’t know why I hated him; he’d never done anything to me.

When I finally educated myself, I asked him to forgive me, and without a second thought he hugged me and said, ‘Don’t give it a second thought.’

Do you know anyone of colour? How about a gay person or a white person? The key word is ‘knowing’ the person – walk a mile in my moccasins.

If there really is a god, I hope Trump and all of his evil little friends are damned.

Trump had cops, judges, evangelicals, republicans, QAnon morons, armed white zealots and the help of the KGB – and with all that, what did he really accomplish?

God bless that orange devil; Trump ripped the mask off of the ugly creature that lives in all of us. Look me in the eye and tell me you haven’t felt hate. How about the neighbour who decided to mow his lawn at six am on a Sunday morning?

I’d like anyone out there in newspaperland to answer or ask this simple question: If a politician told you that God wanted you to jump off of a bridge, would you?
