Russia-lover is wrong about negotiating peace

- DEAR EDITOR

Re: Ukraine should negotiate with Russia — Courier, letters, July 20

I observe that the not so discreet Russia–lover has surfaced again in the Letter to the Editor pages.

This time they are implying that Ukraine should negotiate with their ruthless murderous attacker, and concede the vast areas forcefully taken and now occupied by Russia.

I would like to ask him if some thugs were to enter his house and forcefully take over a large portion of his house and furnishings; would he continue to try to re-take his rightfully owned property, or would he negotiate with the ruthless criminals and concede what they have already taken by force?

Would they be satisfied with just a portion? Here are my thoughts regarding Christoff’s opinions.

You can’t negotiate with a psychopath. To suggest that Russia is open to negotiation is preposterous.

He obviously knows nothing about liquid natural gas production which takes huge amounts of electricity and an abundant supply of natural gas to produce.

A LNG plant is being constructed in B.C. near Kitimat because of the abundance of electrical power available there, and when completed, the gas will be transported from the West Coast not from eastern Canada.

That sanctions on Russia have backfired is wishful thinking. Russia has yet to experience the full effect of the sanctions against them. Keep the heat on and add more sanctions I say.

Yes the Ukrainians are suffering through a war not of their making, as the pig continues to bomb innocent civilians.

Most of the world’s democracies have committed to continue supplying Ukraine with modern weapons and ammunition. I hope the tide will eventually turn in Ukraine’s favour.

No one seems to mention that Putin’s war is a one-sided war.

Not one Ukrainian bomb has landed on a Russian city. What if one does? Would that mean nuclear war? Putin and his cronies are certainly capable of such madness.

Signed, a proud Canadian and Ukraine sympathizer.
