“Bad Teacher” (2011): The basis for a short-lived CBS sitcom, this comedy let Diaz go for broke as a newly divorced, man-chasing novice educator.

“Knight and Day” (2010): Reteamed with her “Vanilla Sky” co-star Tom Cruise, Diaz went for humor-tinged action as a secret agent’s cohort.

“The Holiday” (2006): A delightful Diaz shared this comedy with Kate Winslet as unlucky-in-love women who switched houses and continents.

“In Her Shoes” (2005): Diaz traded well on her usual image as a loose spirit reunited with her serious sister (Toni Collette) to care for their grandmothe­r (Shirley MacLaine).
