The funeral for J. Guy Thompson was held on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, from Belvedere Funeral Home Chapel where the service was conducted by Rev. Joy Noble. The organist was Helen MacRae. During the service Lorna and Donna Thompson and Donna Hayden sang Seek Ye First and Where Can I Go. The congregati­onal hymns were how Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace. A family tribute was shared by Bloyce Thompson. A reading, What Makes a Good Farmer was read by Randy Drake. The Scriptures were read by Jeremy Lewis, Shelley Ployer and Fred Vanderkloe­t. Honorary pallbearer­s were Wilfred Stewart, Theo Oomen, Don Sanderson, David Thompson, Garth Sanderson, Glen Nason, Donald MacDonald, Norman Boswall, Wayne Dickieson and John Mallet. Pallbearer­s were Pat MacInnis, John Bysterveld­t, Robert Verhulp, Colin Sanderson, Donald Thompson, Ben Mallett, Fred Dollar and Kyle Vanderkloe­t. Flowerbear­ers were Rachel and Megan Vanderkloe­t, Katelyn and Isaac Drake, Hannah and Jack Lewis, Terri, Taylor, Alyson and Jenell Thompson. Interment took place in Central United Church Cemetery. Those attending the funeral service included members of the P. E. I. Board of the Women’s Institute, members of P. E. I. Trailer Club, Dunstaffna­ge Seniors, Happy Gang Card Players, Dunstaffna­ge Community Building Directors, members of Central Church UCW, members of Dunstaffna­ge Women’s Institute, members of P. E. I. Dairy Farmers and members of United Church Men.
