Halloween forecast looks great, but weekend will be scary
Nor’easter headed for Maritimes Saturday
It’s going to be a rather pleasant night for trick or treaters on Friday, says The Weather Network chief meterologist.
Chris Scott said the really scary stuff is in the weekend forecast.
Temperatures are expected to cool down today and again on Friday but it should still be a nice night for Halloween.
“No precipitation and winds will be relatively light from the northeast. There really aren’t any major weather concerns,’’ Scott said Wednesday.
“Temperatures will be in the mid to upper single digits, so very comfortable.’’
That’s the good news. Now the bad news.
There is a developing nor’easter heading towards the Maritimes for Saturday and Sunday and it’s going to bring rain, lots of wind and possibly some snow.
Scott said parts of New Brunswick are looking at double digit amounts late Saturday into Sunday morning so he advises anyone travelling west over the Confederation Bridge to pay close attention to the forecast.
“At this point we are fairly confident there will be a major storm developing ( for the Maritimes),’’ Scott said. “The question right now is what tract does it take? That will be the difference between some places getting rain and some getting snow.’’
At this point, the odds favour primarily rain for Prince Edward Island.
But there is a decent chance Islanders will see snow in the air, and a very slight chance it will accumulate on the ground.
