Stewart’s power-play goal gives Matrix win over Abbies

Braedan Stewart scored a powerplay goal with five minutes remaining in regulation which stood as the game-winner in the Mid-Isle Robert’s Petro Canada Matrix 4-2 victory over the Charlottet­own Brighton Constructi­on Abbies in P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League action Tuesday in Cornwall.

It was part of Mid-Isle’s threegoal third period comeback win.

Ethan MacFadyen and Zach Kennific had the other third-frame scores. Tanner Hood (1-1) notched a second-period score. Jacob Stewart chipped in two assists for Mid-Isle.

The Abbies led 1-0 after the first period and 2-1 after the second.

Alex Young and Jarrod MacAdam had the Abbies’ goals.

Alexander Smith was the winning goaltender. Ava Boutilier was in goal for the Abbies.

Bantam Warriors strike in final period to beat Express

The Prince County Warriors scored three third-period goals en route to a 6-4 win over the Eastern Express in P.E.I. Irving Oil Bantam AAA Hockey League play Tuesday in Montague.

Brad Morrissey paced the Warriors with three goals and an assist while Bennett MacArthur (2) and Evan Gallant also scored.

The Warriors led 2-0 after the first period and 3-2 at the second intermissi­on.

Matt Gordon (1-1), Ryan Bowley (1-1), Tyson McInnis (1-1) and Zac Arsenault tallied for Express.

Lucas MacAulay chipped in two assists.

Colin Gaudette was in goal for the Warriors. Anthonie Honkoop was the Express netminder.
