Sir Andrew Macphail’s fourth annual Scottish Gala set for Saturday, Nov. 1

Kicking off the month on Saturday, Nov. 1, Sir Andrew Macphail will be hosting a major fundraisin­g event, the annual Scottish Gala.

It will consist of live and silent auctions; wonderful culinary food stations, created by Alyssa Dennison, a recent graduate of the renowned Culinary Institute; and entertainm­ent by two of the Homestead Players, as well as Melissa Mullen and Rob MacLean, who shared in the production of Sir Andrew’s classic memoir, The Master’s Wife, during the summer and fall months.

Mullen and MacLean will entertain guests by sharing Scottish poetry. Joining the Homestead Players will be Jill Harris, a well-known Harpist from Murray Harbour who has entertaine­d at a number of events across Melissa Mullen who performed in The Master’s Wife, the successful 2014 play based on Sir Andrew Macphail’s classic memoir, will be one of the entertaine­rs, along with Rob MacLean and Jill Harris, at the fourth annual Scottish Gala at the Macphail Homestead, Nov. 1. Atlantic Canada.

A reception will begin at 6 p.m., giving the guests a chance to view the silent and live auction items. The rest of the celebratio­ns will begin at 7 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to book and pay their tickets in advance due to limited space. Since this is a major fund raising event, tickets are selling for $50 each and will result in a $20 donation receipt.

The Sir Andrew Macphail Homestead is located at 271 Macphail Park Rd., Orwell. Follow the gravel-canopied road to the green gates, approximat­ely 2 km from the Trans-Canada Highway.
