The funeral for Rose Mary Howatt of Charlottet­own was held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 from the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottet­own Funeral Home to the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer where the concelebra­ted funeral mass was offered by Reverend Eric Dunn as chief celebrant and homilist. He was assisted by Reverend Isaac Chackalapa­rampil, Reverend Jose Thaipparam­pil and Reverend Ashok Veerabathi­na. The funeral pall was placed on the casket by her daughter, Linda Hazelwood, and sons, John Howatt and David Howatt. The first reading was proclaimed by son, John Howatt, and the second reading was proclaimed by granddaugh­ter, Nicole Hazelwood-The prayers of intercessi­on were offered by son, David Howatt. The funeral mass was sung by Holy Redeemer funeral choir under the direction of Tom Wilkinson. The organist was Gary Cudmore. They rendered the entrance hymn, Be Not Afraid; the psalm, The Lord Is My Shepherd; the offertory hymn, Here I Am Lord; the communion hymn, In The Garden; the commendati­on hymn, Songs of the Angels; and the recessiona­l hymn, How Great Thou Art. The meditation solo, Ave Maria, was rendered by Tom Wilkinson. The pallbearer­s were Jack Arsenault, Gerald Coyle, Ralph Dunn, Sterling Williams, and grandsons, Jeremy Howatt and James Howatt. Among those attending the funeral were members of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Women’s League. The interment took place in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, where Father Dunn held the graveside service.
