Well-known fiddler to perform tonight at Emerald ceilidh

Fiddler extraordin­aire Richard Wood will join Courtney Hogan-Chandler, Gordon Belsher and the Dalziel girls on keyboard for the ceilidh today at the Emerald Community Centre at 7:30 p.m.

Wood’s performanc­e highlights include TV guest appearance­s with Shania Twain on “David Letterman” and “Good Morning America,” Carnegie Hall with Irish legends The Chieftains, a featured performer on CBC’s Canada Day on Parliament Hill, “Rita MacNeil and Friends,” and with Jean Butler of Riverdance on “Celtic Electric.”

Belsher has been entertaini­ng audiences in Canada and around the world for more than a quarter of a century performing solo at concerts, ceilidhs, convention­s and pubs. As an accompanis­t and featured vocalist with fiddler Richard Wood, he has toured extensivel­y across Canada, the US, the UK, Europe, Japan and Australia.

The Emerald boxcar pub will be open at 5:30 p.m. for food and drinks. Admission is at the door. Everyone is welcome to attend.
