Innovation and Technology Association hosts IT industry gala
Aspin Kemp and Associates came out the top winner in the annual Innovation and Technology Association of P.E.I. gala award night held recently in Charlottetown.
Wade MacLauchlan was on hand to present Aspin Kemp with the Premier’s Entrepreneurship Award for its “significant contribution to the Island economy.”
The annual gala was held at the Culinary Institute of Canada to celebrate the achievements and excellence of one of PEI’s fastest growing sectors.
It was hosted by Patrick Ledwell, and supported by ITAP’s funding partners as well as leading Island IT companies.
Kay MacPhee of Ooka Island received the lifetime achievement award for her years using technology to teach reading.
The exceptional enterprise product award went to iWave Information Systems for its Prospect Research Online product that helps nonprofit organizations find sources of funding.
Technology application of the year award was given to ViTRAK Systems for its Stepscan gait measurement and analysis technology that provides data on how people walk.
The ITAP member company of the year is Thinking Big, based in Charlottetown and Montague. It describes itself as a full service information technology company, a group of computing system and web developers and designers with clients all over the world.
Also receiving recognition were start-up companies Skip the Waiting Room, Garago, Queen Bee, and Wicked Eh?
In recognition of the Island’s vibrant start-up community, video showcases were also presented for a number of upand-coming companies with innovative ideas and exciting potential.
