The Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series kicks-off on July 5

The summer concert series is back at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall.

During its eighth season, nine shows will be presented and more than 50 artists will be featured on Sunday evenings starting at 7 p.m., between July 5 and Aug. 30.

Since 2008, the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel (CDCPMC) has presented a total of 55 shows, which have left their mark on over 8000 spectators. The 2015 programming will feature local island artists of all musical genres who will present music, singing and dancing..

For the first concert of the season on Sunday, July 5, the artists that will take the stage of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall are Island artists Patricia Richard, Marcella Richard, Caroline Bernard, Rémi Arsenault and Louise Arsenault as well as Red Moon Road from Manitoba. Stepdancers Les Étoiles d’Acadie (Emily Arsenault, Maria Arsenault and Renée Gallant) will round out the line-up.

These singer-songwriters and musicians have travelled near and far during their careers to share their joy of music. Marcella now has three solo albums to her name and Patricia was a member of several former groups, such as Panou, Acadilac and Ode à l’Acadie. Caroline was a member of the groups Gadelle and Chiquésa. She was also a part of Searching for Abegweit: Songs and Stories of Lennie Gallant, which was presented at the Mackenzie Theatre in Charlottetown in 2014. They will be accompanied by Louise Arsenault and Rémi Arsenault.

Red Moon Road is one of Canada’s most energetic and endearing folk trio. Masterful storytelling, haunting three part harmonies, mandolin, banjo, guitar, delay pedals and a beatup bass drum.

The doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. The public is invited to come early because the seating is limited. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for members and $4 for students. Admission is free for preschoolers. You can find the 2015 lineup at www.cooperativeculturelledemontcarmel.com.
