Lively Aca­dian artists to per­form at Mont-Carmel Parish Hall

The Mont-Carmel Sum­mer Con­cert Se­ries kicks-off on July 5

The sum­mer con­cert se­ries is back at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall.

Dur­ing its eighth sea­son, nine shows will be pre­sented and more than 50 artists will be fea­tured on Sun­day evenings start­ing at 7 p.m., be­tween July 5 and Aug. 30.

Since 2008, the Coopéra­tive de développe­ment cul­turel et pat­ri­mo­nial de Mont-Carmel (CDCPMC) has pre­sented a to­tal of 55 shows, which have left their mark on over 8000 spec­ta­tors. The 2015 pro­gram­ming will fea­ture lo­cal is­land artists of all mu­si­cal gen­res who will present mu­sic, singing and danc­ing..

For the first con­cert of the sea­son on Sun­day, July 5, the artists that will take the stage of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall are Is­land artists Pa­tri­cia Richard, Mar­cella Richard, Caro­line Bernard, Rémi Arse­nault and Louise Arse­nault as well as Red Moon Road from Man­i­toba. Step­dancers Les Étoiles d’Acadie (Emily Arse­nault, Maria Arse­nault and Renée Gallant) will round out the line-up.

These singer-song­writ­ers and mu­si­cians have trav­elled near and far dur­ing their ca­reers to share their joy of mu­sic. Mar­cella now has three solo al­bums to her name and Pa­tri­cia was a mem­ber of sev­eral for­mer groups, such as Panou, Acadi­lac and Ode à l’Acadie. Caro­line was a mem­ber of the groups Gadelle and Chiquésa. She was also a part of Search­ing for Abeg­weit: Songs and Sto­ries of Len­nie Gallant, which was pre­sented at the Macken­zie Theatre in Char­lot­te­town in 2014. They will be ac­com­pa­nied by Louise Arse­nault and Rémi Arse­nault.

Red Moon Road is one of Canada’s most en­er­getic and en­dear­ing folk trio. Mas­ter­ful sto­ry­telling, haunting three part har­monies, man­dolin, banjo, guitar, de­lay ped­als and a bea­tup bass drum.

The doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. The public is in­vited to come early be­cause the seat­ing is lim­ited. Dur­ing the evening, spec­ta­tors will be able to buy 50/50 tick­ets and the can­teen will be open. Ad­mis­sion is $10 for adults, $8 for mem­bers and $4 for stu­dents.
