The Millers 8 p.m. on (CTV) The canceled sitcom returns to play off its remaining stories. Carol (Margo Martindale) finds Kip (Sean Hayes) inspirational, possibly to her imminent detriment, in the new tale “Diggin’ Up Bones.” Wanting her to take risks more, he urges her to hug it out — or have it out — with a former work enemy (guest star Molly Shannon) who’s on the verge of retiring. Will Arnett, Beau Bridges and Jayma Mays also star. Another episode follows.

Annie 8 p.m. on (M1) It’s still a hard-knock life for the orphaned title character in this revision of the hit Broadway musical. Quvenzhane Wallis (“Beasts of the Southern Wild”) has the title role, with Jamie Foxx as this version’s Daddy Warbucks, a cellular tycoon named Will Stacks. Cameron Diaz plays the bitter Miss Hannigan. The revamped score includes such standards as “Maybe” and, of course, “Tomorrow.” Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale and David Zayas (“Gotham”) co-star and several famous faces turn up in cameos.

Greenberg 9 p.m. on (TMNE) Ben Stiller tones down his act by placing himself in the hands of writer-director Noah Baumbach (“The Squid and the Whale”) — and Baumbach’s wife, actress Jennifer Jason Leigh, who helped conceive the story and is a co-star here — in this comedy-drama about a somewhat lost man who finds himself when he switches coasts and house-sits for his Los Angeles-based brother (Chris Messina, “Julie & Julia”). Greta Gerwig and Rhys Ifans also star.

Get On Up 10 p.m. on (M1) You can’t simply “get by” with playing dynamic music icon James Brown, but Chadwick Boseman (“42”) is up to the challenge in director Tate Taylor’s (“The Help”) biopic. The script recalls the impoverished background of the performer who would become known as both “the Godfather of Soul” and “the hardest working man in show business.” In his supporting cast, Taylor reunites “The Help” stars Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer, and adds Dan Aykroyd, Craig Robinson and Jill Scott.

The McCarthys 10 p.m. on (SBK) Though it won’t be back next season, this Bostoncomedy gets to air its remaining episodes, starting with the new story “Gerard’s Engagement Party.” Joey McIntyre plays McCarthy son Gerard, whose fiancee Katrina (Jessica St. Clair) never has been one of his mother Marjorie’s (Laurie Metcalf) favorite people ... so one shouldn’t expect said party to go too smoothly, especially since Gerard may end up missing it. Jean Smart guest stars. Another episode follows.
