The fu­neral for Lawrence Gallant, hus­band of the late Hazel Gallant, for­merly of May­field, was held Satur­day, July 4, 2015, at St. Anne’s Ro­man Catholic Church, Hope River. The presider for the mass of Chris­tian burial was Rev­erend Au­ral­raj San­ti­ago, who also pro­claimed the Gospel and de­liv­ered the homily. The pall was placed on the casket by his daugh­ters, Alice Gallant and Susie Buote. The first read­ing, from Ec­cle­si­astes, was ad­dressed by Mar­ion Mur­phy. The sec­ond read­ing, from I John, was ad­dressed by Mar­lene Gallant, who also led the prayers of the faith­ful. The al­tar servers were Jac­inta Do­iron, Dennis Do­iron, Paula Gau­thier and Estelle Bour­geois. Mar­ion Mur­phy and Paula Gau­thier as­sisted Fa­ther San­ti­ago as eucharis­tic min­is­ters. The mu­sic was led by the church choir with Shirley Do­iron as or­gan­ist. The hymns were: en­trance, Be Not Afraid; the psalm, The Lord Is My Shep­herd, and the Gospel ac­cla­ma­tion, Celtic Al­leluia, were both led by can­tor, Jimmy McAleer; of­fer­tory, How Great Thou Art; com­mu­nion, Lord, Make Us Ser­vants of Your Peace; com­men­da­tion, Songs of the An­gels; and re­ces­sional, Amaz­ing Grace. The pall­bear­ers were sons-in-law, Jerry Gallant and Don­nie Buote; neph­ews, Ir­win Gallant and Brian Gallant; and friends, Garner Col­lis­ter and Johnny Gallant. Flower­bear­ers were grand­daugh­ter, Luan­dra Gallant, and friends, Deb­bie Col­lis­ter, Daniel Col­lis­ter and Hai­ley Col­lis­ter. The Royal Cana­dian Le­gion, Branch #1, Char­lot­te­town, held a ser­vice of re­mem­brance at the fu­neral home on Fri­day evening, and also were among those in at­ten­dance at the fu­neral. In­ter­ment took place in St. Ann’s Ceme­tery where Fa­ther San­ti­ago con­ducted the com­mit­tal ser­vice. Ar­range­ments were en­trusted to Cen­tral Queen’s Fu­neral Home, New Glas­gow.
