The fu­neral for Hen­ri­etta Dono­van was held on Wed­nes­day, June 20, 2015 at 2 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Souris. The fu­neral mass was cel­e­brated by Fr. Ra­jumr Che­bat­tina, who also pro­claimed the Gospel and de­liv­ered the homily. The eucharis­tic min­is­ters were Bar­bara Mac­Don­ald (niece) and Reta O’Brien ( friend). Grand­niece, Mar­lene Mac­Don­ald, did the first read­ing and niece, Theresa Mal­lard, did the sec­ond read­ing. Close friend, Rhonda MacPhee, led the prayers of the faith­ful. Honorary pall­bear­ers were Allan and Joanne Chisholm, Brian and Rhonda MacPhee, Fran­cis and Veron­ica MacPhee, Fran­cis and Mau­reen Howlett, Leo and Shirley Mal­lard, Bobby Dixon, Kevin and Vi­vian MacAu­lay, Carl Fay, Mike and Colleen MacCor­mac, Anne (Kenny Cyril) Mac­Don­ald, John and Beth MacPhee, Gene and Betty Fay, John and Amy Hughes, Ricky and Louise Birt, Earl and Judy Mac­Don­ald, Art Peters, Iso­bel McCor­mack, Mary Kemp, Vince Savoie and Margie MacKin­non. Pall­bear­ers were neph­ews, Don­ald MacGre­gor and Harold Mac­Don­ald and neigh­bours Michael MacAu­lay, Wayne MacIn­tyre, Ger­ard McCor­mack and Roland Mac­Don­ald. Flower­bear­ers were nieces and neph­ews, Jessie MacPhee, Mar­ion MacGre­gor, Chantell Gil­lis, Kent Poole and Leo Miller. Jimmy Mac­Don­ald, Frankie Mac­In­tosh, Justin MacKin­non and Terry Carter were al­tar servers. Mu­sic was pro­vided by the church choir un­der the di­rec­tion of or­gan­ist Bill Matthews. Hymns were: En­trance, Be Not Afraid; of­fer­tory, Morn­ing Has Bro­ken; com­mu­nion, Like A Shep­herd and How Great Thou Art; re­ces­sional, Amaz­ing Grace, played on the fid­dle by nephew Richard MacGre­gor. At­tend­ing in a group was the Depart­ment of Fi­nance. In­ter­ment was made in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Ceme­tery, with the com­mit­tal ser­vice con­ducted by Fr. Ra­jumr Che­bat­tina.
