The funeral for Henrietta Donovan was held on Wednesday, June 20, 2015 at 2 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Souris. The funeral mass was celebrated by Fr. Rajumr Chebattina, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The eucharisti­c ministers were Barbara MacDonald (niece) and Reta O’Brien ( friend). Grandniece, Marlene MacDonald, did the first reading and niece, Theresa Mallard, did the second reading. Close friend, Rhonda MacPhee, led the prayers of the faithful. Honorary pallbearer­s were Allan and Joanne Chisholm, Brian and Rhonda MacPhee, Francis and Veronica MacPhee, Francis and Maureen Howlett, Leo and Shirley Mallard, Bobby Dixon, Kevin and Vivian MacAulay, Carl Fay, Mike and Colleen MacCormac, Anne (Kenny Cyril) MacDonald, John and Beth MacPhee, Gene and Betty Fay, John and Amy Hughes, Ricky and Louise Birt, Earl and Judy MacDonald, Art Peters, Isobel McCormack, Mary Kemp, Vince Savoie and Margie MacKinnon. Pallbearer­s were nephews, Donald MacGregor and Harold MacDonald and neighbours Michael MacAulay, Wayne MacIntyre, Gerard McCormack and Roland MacDonald. Flowerbear­ers were nieces and nephews, Jessie MacPhee, Marion MacGregor, Chantell Gillis, Kent Poole and Leo Miller. Jimmy MacDonald, Frankie MacIntosh, Justin MacKinnon and Terry Carter were altar servers. Music was provided by the church choir under the direction of organist Bill Matthews. Hymns were: Entrance, Be Not Afraid; offertory, Morning Has Broken; communion, Like A Shepherd and How Great Thou Art; recessiona­l, Amazing Grace, played on the fiddle by nephew Richard MacGregor. Attending in a group was the Department of Finance. Interment was made in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery, with the committal service conducted by Fr. Rajumr Chebattina.
