The fu­neral for Alyre Arse­nault, hus­band of Mona Arse­nault, of South Rus­tico, was held Fri­day, July 3, 2015, at St. Augustine’s Ro­man Catholic Church, South Rus­tico. The presider for the mass of chris­tian burial was Rev­erend Au­ral­raj San­ti­ago, who also pro­claimed the Gospel and de­liv­ered the homily. The first read­ing, from La­men­ta­tions, was ad­dressed by friend, Liz Gau­thier. The sec­ond read­ing, from I Corinthi­ans, was ad­dressed by grand­son, Alex Tay­lor. The prayers of the faith­ful were led by niece, Jo­hanne Bour­goin. Words of re­mem­brance were given by daugh­ter-in-law, Maude Des­jardins. The al­tar servers were Alyre Gallant and Joseph O. Gallant. Linda Gallant and Joseph O. Gallant as­sisted Fa­ther San­ti­ago as eucharis­tic min­is­ters. The mu­sic was led by the church choir with Sis­ter Phyl­lis Gallant, CND, as or­gan­ist and Phyl­lis Arse­nault as song leader. The hymns were: En­trance, Be Not Afraid; Psalm, The Lord’s My Shep­herd; Gospel ac­cla­ma­tion, Celtic Al­leluia, with can­tor, Janet Cox; of­fer­tory, Seek Ye First; com­mu­nion, You Are My Saviour, sung by Phyl­lis Arse­nault; com­men­da­tion, Songs of the An­gels; and re­ces­sional, How Great Thou Art. The bearer of hon­our was grand­son, Gabriel Arse­nault. Flower­bear­ers were grand­daugh­ters, Chloé Arse­nault and Brianna Arse­nault, and grand­son, Ma­lik Bour­goin. In­ter­ment will take place at a later date in St. Augustine’s Ceme­tery. Ar­range­ments were en­trusted to Cen­tral Queen’s Fu­neral Home, New Glas­gow.
