ARSENAULT, Alyre Joseph
The funeral for Alyre Arsenault, husband of Mona Arsenault, of South Rustico, was held Friday, July 3, 2015, at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, South Rustico. The presider for the mass of christian burial was Reverend Auralraj Santiago, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The first reading, from Lamentations, was addressed by friend, Liz Gauthier. The second reading, from I Corinthians, was addressed by grandson, Alex Taylor. The prayers of the faithful were led by niece, Johanne Bourgoin. Words of remembrance were given by daughter-in-law, Maude Desjardins. The altar servers were Alyre Gallant and Joseph O. Gallant. Linda Gallant and Joseph O. Gallant assisted Father Santiago as eucharistic ministers. The music was led by the church choir with Sister Phyllis Gallant, CND, as organist and Phyllis Arsenault as song leader. The hymns were: Entrance, Be Not Afraid; Psalm, The Lord’s My Shepherd; Gospel acclamation, Celtic Alleluia, with cantor, Janet Cox; offertory, Seek Ye First; communion, You Are My Saviour, sung by Phyllis Arsenault; commendation, Songs of the Angels; and recessional, How Great Thou Art. The bearer of honour was grandson, Gabriel Arsenault. Flowerbearers were granddaughters, Chloé Arsenault and Brianna Arsenault, and grandson, Malik Bourgoin. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Augustine’s Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
