Best ball golf has largest number of participants
Find out the results from the Vogue Optical P.E.I. 55+ Summer Games.
The Vogue Optical P.E.I. 55+ Summer Games took place in Montague from June 22 to 27 with 408 individuals competing in 19 events ranging from golf and bocce to cribbage.
The Games were led by a volunteer organizing committee chaired by Paul MacDonald and Alex MacPherson along with individual chairpeople running each event.
The team best ball golf event proved to be the week’s biggest event with 92 people swinging their clubs for the medals.
The Vogue Optical P.E.I. 55+ Winter Games will be hosted by the City of Summerside in late February 2016.

Some highlights:
Contract bridge - Winners Sandra MacDonald and Ann White beat the competition by more than 3,300 points.
Duplicate bridge - Oldest participant Blanche Vatcher (1922) won gold with partner Doreen Rowe.
Pickleball - One newly eligible participant, Catherine Bolahood, won gold in the women’s division with her partner Pat Bear and in the mixed division with her partner Wayne Bolahood.
Crokinole - Eight of this year’s participants also participated at the recent World Crokinole Championships in Ontario.
New events - Two new events were added this summer with 30 participants in shuffleboard and 40 participants in progressive 45s
Double gold - Partners Velda and Robert MacLeod won gold in both auction 45 and progressive 45s. Doug MacEachern and Chrys Jenkins won two gold medals, winning horseshoes and washer toss.
