Chuckwagon races cruel towards horses

I have on more than one occasion sent a letter to the Calgary Herald to voice my concern about the cruel and unnecessary death of horses during the chuck-wagon races at the Stampede. Of course there was no response that I know about and I keep a sharp lookout for Calgarian detractors.

Surely the Humane Society of that province is concerned about these races, which have several times resulted in the death of a horse.

We have so much unpreventable misery in this world why does anyone condone such unnecessary barbarism in the form of entertainment. Hilary Prince, Stratford
