Musical evening set for Mont-Carmel
The Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series is in full throttle for the 2015 season every Sunday evening until Aug. 30
The Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel (CDCPMC) has announced that a variety of artists who will take the stage at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall on Sunday, July 12, for the second of nine shows: Julien Robichaud; Katherine Moller; Nathan Carragher and Katie Kerr; Melissa Gallant and step-dancing by Les Pieds Rythmés (Renée Gardiner, Loren Enman, Mélodie Jordan and Bryanna Sharky) as well as Janelle Gardiner and Lydia Enman.
Robichaud, son of well-known artists Patricia Richard and Mario Robichaud, will perform for the second time in MontCarmel as part of the annual concert series. The 12-year-old pianist is currently exploring various styles, and his performance will include such styles as ragtime, contemporary and jazz.
Moller is a fiddle player from New Brunswick. Whether she is playing traditional fiddle tunes in a crowded pub or the music of Bach on a concert stage, her love and respect for the instrument and its widespread appeal have brought her considerable acclaim as one of the province’s true fiddle ambassadors. She currently has four recordings, as well as recognition for her talents, including the Classical Artist of the Year Award in 2012 from Music N.B. and a Music N.B. award for roots/traditional recording of the year in 2014.
Carragher and Kerr have been performing on stage together for the last couple of years. Armed with a guitar and a ukulele, they perform a mixture of both pop and folk music.
Fiddler Melissa Gallant, originally from the Evangeline area but currently living in New Brunswick, is returning to the stage and will be accompanied by Philippe LeBlanc.
The concert, sponsored by Music P.E.I., will start at 7 p.m. The doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11) open at 6:15 p.m. The public is invited to come early because the seating is limited. During the evening, there will be a 50/50 draw, and the canteen will be open.
