Mu­si­cal evening set for Mont-Carmel

The Mont-Carmel Sum­mer Con­cert Se­ries is in full throt­tle for the 2015 sea­son ev­ery Sun­day evening un­til Aug. 30

The Coopéra­tive de développe­ment cul­turel et pat­ri­mo­nial de Mont-Carmel (CDCPMC) has an­nounced that a va­ri­ety of artists who will take the stage at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall on Sun­day, July 12, for the sec­ond of nine shows: Julien Ro­bichaud; Kather­ine Moller; Nathan Car­ragher and Katie Kerr; Melissa Gallant and step-danc­ing by Les Pieds Ryth­més (Renée Gar­diner, Loren Enman, Mélodie Jor­dan and Bryanna Sharky) as well as Janelle Gar­diner and Ly­dia Enman.

Ro­bichaud, son of well-known artists Pa­tri­cia Richard and Mario Ro­bichaud, will per­form for the sec­ond time in Mon­tCarmel as part of the an­nual con­cert se­ries. The 12-year-old pi­anist is cur­rently ex­plor­ing var­i­ous styles, and his per­for­mance will in­clude such styles as rag­time, con­tem­po­rary and jazz.

Moller is a fid­dle player from New Brunswick. Whether she is play­ing tra­di­tional fid­dle tunes in a crowded pub or the mu­sic of Bach on a con­cert stage, her love and re­spect for the in­stru­ment and its wide­spread ap­peal have brought her con­sid­er­able ac­claim as one of the province’s true fid­dle am­bas­sadors. She cur­rently has four record­ings, as well as recog­ni­tion for her tal­ents, in­clud­ing the Clas­si­cal Artist of the Year Award in 2012 from Mu­sic N.B. and a Mu­sic N.B. award for roots/tra­di­tional record­ing of the year in 2014.

Car­ragher and Kerr have been per­form­ing on stage to­gether for the last cou­ple of years. Armed with a guitar and a ukulele, they per­form a mix­ture of both pop and folk mu­sic.

Fid­dler Melissa Gallant, orig­i­nally from the Evan­ge­line area but cur­rently liv­ing in New Brunswick, is re­turn­ing to the stage and will be ac­com­pa­nied by Philippe LeBlanc.

The con­cert, spon­sored by Mu­sic P.E.I., will start at 7 p.m. The doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11) open at 6:15 p.m. The public is in­vited to come early be­cause the seat­ing is lim­ited. Dur­ing the evening, there will be a 50/50 draw, and the can­teen will be open.

Ad­mis­sion is $10 for adults, $8 for mem­bers, $4 for stu­dents and­free for preschool­ers. The com­plete 2015 lineup is at­op­er­a­tivecul­turellede­mont­carmel.
