1 The Astronaut Wives Club

Against the backdrop of the civil rights movement, the astronauts and their wives deal with a variety of issues in the new episode “Flashpoint.” John Glenn (Sam Reid) mulls running for a seat in the U.S. government, while Trudy Cooper (Odette Annable) takes up the cause of women who have the desire to go into space. JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Desmond Harrington, Bret Harrison, Wilson Bethel and Erin Cummings also are in the ensemble cast.

2 BOOM!

You just know this won’t be pretty: “It’s the Creamed Spinach Bomb!” is the title of this new episode, and if the explosive goes off during the hour — gee, what are the chances? — anyone even remotely nearby is going to get very, very messy. Host Tom Papa poses questions that either will let the bomb sit dormant or activate, based on how contestant­s answer. With that much spinach available, here’s hoping Popeye is somewhere around the set.

A youngster who’s no newcomer to cooking competitio­ns squares off against adult kitchen profession­als in the new episode “This Kid’s Got Moves.” Troy Glass was a semifinali­st on the junior edition of “MasterChef,” and he competes with several older chefs before having to prove his mettle against Rocco DiSpirito, widely famous from his run on the unscripted series “The Restaurant.” Host Adam Richman presides over this showdown of styles and ages.

4 Beyond Scared Straight

A frightened teenager named Taylor swears she didn’t know she was carrying someone else’s weapons when she came to school neverthele­ss can get a clean slate only by attending a youth interventi­on program at South Carolina’s Chester County Detention Center in the new episode “Chester, SC: Cornflake, Sandbag & Frozen.”

5 Wayward Pines

10 p.m. on (FOX-R)

Harold’s (Reed Diamond) efforts to get through the fence that keeps people in Wayward Pines draws Ethan’s (Matt Dillon) curiosity in the new episode “A Reckoning.” Amy’s (guest star Sarah Jeffery) illness becomes even more of a concern, and Nurse Pam (Melissa Leo) asks Theresa (Shannyn Sossamon) to do some probing. Megan (guest star Hope Davis) wants student Ben (Charlie Tahan) to talk about what’s happening in the town. Terrence Howard also stars.
