1 The As­tro­naut Wives Club

Against the back­drop of the civil rights move­ment, the astro­nauts and their wives deal with a va­ri­ety of is­sues in the new episode “Flash­point.” John Glenn (Sam Reid) mulls run­ning for a seat in the U.S. gov­ern­ment, while Trudy Cooper (Odette Annable) takes up the cause of women who have the de­sire to go into space. JoAnna Gar­cia Swisher, Desmond Har­ring­ton, Bret Har­ri­son, Wil­son Bethel and Erin Cum­mings also are in the ensem­ble cast.

You just know this won’t be pretty: “It’s the Creamed Spinach Bomb!” is the ti­tle of this new episode, and if the ex­plo­sive goes off dur­ing the hour — gee, what are the chances? — any­one even re­motely nearby is go­ing to get very, very messy. Host Tom Papa poses ques­tions that ei­ther will let the bomb sit dor­mant or ac­ti­vate, based on how con­tes­tants an­swer. With that much spinach avail­able, here’s hop­ing Pop­eye is some­where around the set.

3 Food Fight­ers

A young­ster who’s no new­comer to cook­ing com­pe­ti­tions squares off against adult kitchen pro­fes­sion­als in the new episode “This Kid’s Got Moves.” Troy Glass was a semi­fi­nal­ist on the ju­nior edi­tion of “MasterChef,” and he com­petes with sev­eral older chefs be­fore hav­ing to prove his met­tle against Rocco DiSpir­ito, widely fa­mous from his run on the un­scripted se­ries “The Res­tau­rant.” Host Adam Rich­man pre­sides over this show­down of styles and ages.

4 Be­yond Scared Straight

10 p.m. on (A&E)

A fright­ened teenager named Tay­lor swears she didn’t know she was car­ry­ing some­one else’s weapons when she came to school nev­er­the­less can get a clean slate only by at­tend­ing a youth in­ter­ven­tion pro­gram at South Carolina’s Ch­ester County De­ten­tion Cen­ter in the new episode “Ch­ester, SC: Corn­flake, Sand­bag & Frozen.”

5 Way­ward Pines

10 p.m. on (FOX-R)

Harold’s (Reed Diamond) ef­forts to get through the fence that keeps peo­ple in Way­ward Pines draws Ethan’s (Matt Dil­lon) cu­rios­ity in the new episode “A Reck­on­ing.” Amy’s (guest star Sarah Jef­fery) ill­ness be­comes even more of a con­cern, and Nurse Pam (Melissa Leo) asks Theresa (Shan­nyn Sos­sa­mon) to do some prob­ing. Me­gan (guest star Hope Davis) wants stu­dent Ben (Char­lie Ta­han) to talk about what’s hap­pen­ing in the town. Ter­rence Howard also stars.
