GILLIS, Joseph
Passed away on July 14, 2015, in his 83rd year, with his devoted wife, Ruth, of 59 years and adoring son, Stephen, by his side. Predeceased by his loving parents, Elizabeth and James; siblings, John, Ann and Gerry; and many cherished inlaws. Loving brother to Vonnie, Ardelle, Kathy ( John Taylor), Rose and Gerard, Frank and Donna, Chuck and Gayle and brother-in-law to Dolores, Gord and Verna, Jim and Shirley, Larry and Sue, Dot, Patricia Buchan, and Stella Gillis. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Joe was born in St. Peter's, P.E.I., and loved to reminisce about his beloved hometown. He moved to Ontario in 1952 and made a home in Hamilton with his loving family, but always kept a place in his heart for his home province. Joe was a retired engineer who devoted 40 years of his life as an employee at Stelco Steel. Thanks to Dr. Grieci as well as the CTU staff at St. Joseph's Hospital, especially Cindy. A special thanks to Dr. Kraftchek (and staff ) for his many years of exceptional care and friendship. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church (20 Idlewood Ave.) on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 10 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Ancaster.
