Charlottetown Y’s Men’s Club holds awards night
Bill Irwin was this year’s recipient of the Y’s Man of the Year Award during the Charlottetown Y’s Men’s Club recent annual awards night.
This award is known as the Jenkins Memorial Award and is awarded annually to the outstanding Y’s Man of the year.
Earl Foster was the recipient of the President’s Award and is presented to the Outstanding Committee Chairman of the Year.
Fifty-year membership pins were presented to Eric MacNeill, George Scantlebury, John Massey, Don Worthen and Roy Pursey. These five gentlemen have been actively involved in club activities for a total of 265 years.
The Charlottetown Y”s Men’s Club was the recipient of two awards at the recent Maritimes Regional Convention in Woodstock, New Brunswick.
The World Outlook Award recognizes the contribution of clubs towards international programs such as Time of Fast, Brother Clubs and specially endorsed international programs such as Roll Back Malaria.
The Brotherhood Award recognizes clubs that assist delegates from around the world to travel to other countries to help promote the international association.
The Brotherhood Program helps to increase the understanding of different cultures worldwide.
This club will be celebrating the 90th anniversary of its chartering this coming November. Between now and then, it will be operating its annual parking lot on Exhibition Drive during Old Home Week and then on Oct. 26. The Charlottetown Y’s Men’s Club will be conducting its 29th annual Food Drive for the Upper Room Hospitality Ministry and Soup Kitchen.
